i-Type Innovations i-Type Ball Heads - Versatility and Convenience
Adding to the outstanding characteristics of the Markins ball heads, like superb smoothness, light weight, small size, highest load capacity, true "Sweet Spot" operation, low maintenance and lifetime durability, the new i-Type ball heads now can also be used for more efficient Birding and Videography. The ball head housing is prepared to take on a BV module attachment (BV-12 for Q10i ball heads, BV-22 for the Q20i), replacing the need to buy and carry other bulky, obtrusive and heavy dedicated gimbal-type ball heads or video heads. An i-Type ball head works in any and all applications.

i-Type Clamp Connection - Safety and Convenience
Typical ball heads have their clamps lock-tite bonded to the central post. To change a clamp there was the need to blow-torch it to melt the glue. The new Markins i-Type clamps are now secured with a new system by a screw, to allow for both efficient securing and easy replacement (for example, from knob-type to lever type and viceversa). In addition to the above, by increasing the contact area vibration reduction is improved.

Quick-Turn i-Type Knob Clamp - Speed and Convenience
The Markins i-Type knob clamps open or close to unlock or lock a plate with a single quick turn. This makes it three times faster than other knobs in the industry. The knob handles now also have a stronger shaft to further reduce chances of bending it as a consequence of a hard bump.

Markins Hard anodizing - High Quality Finish - Durability
Unlike other ball heads and plates, which lose the finish with ease, the secret of Markins products of maintaining the beautiful satin finish for years and years is the hard anodizing process. The patented Markins hard anodization process alters and hardens the structure of the metal surface itself, making it incredibly abrasion and scratch resistant unlike the "soft anodized" surface used by other manufacturers. Due to the nature of the process it is very difficult to control the exact thickness of the finish.
Q201-Lever clamp engravings and markings
As a result, it is extremely difficult to obtain the desired precision required for a professional grade ball head. We believe this is one of the reasons that others shun away from this process despite of the benefits for the buyer. This tells of Markins' superior engineering capabilities.
FOOTNOTES:

1 The recommendation above is for use on tripods. On a monopod, the Q3i and Q3iT can handle any load efficiently.
If you acquire a Q20i you will be set for life with any camera-lens setup, from the smallest to the largest and be ready to take on the BV-22 module attachment for birding and video.
2 Markins is the only ball head manufacturer that publishes the torque of its ball heads. The load capacity as published is measured at a 5cm / 1.97" load center of gravity offset from the center of the ball head.
3 A setting where you can reposition your camera-lens without having to touch again the controls at all.
4 Some tripods and monopods have a 1/4" bolt. You will need a bushing thread adapter to mount the ball head.
